The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The triumph bolsters the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses

The visitors had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields running in a short rushing score to finish the Jets' opening drive

But the home team responded in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third period to push the score to 21 to 7

"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."

Justin Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the win
