Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game series averaged 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
